Despite a disastrous night, the NDP had one small victory, winning back one extra seat in Regina for a total of four, while the Sask. Party took a new riding for a total of seven.
Several urban ridings in Regina were key battlegrounds into the night with races split between the Sask. Party and NDP candidates by only a few dozen votes.
Nicole Sarauer regained a seat for the NDP in the riding of Regina Douglas Park that was lost by former NDP leader Dwaine Lingenfelter in the 2011 election. Sarauer won by 529 votes over CJ Katz for the Sask. Party.
It was down to the wire in Regina Pasqua with first time Sask. Party candidate and recent immigrant Muhammad Fiaz pulling ahead by a few hundred votes over Heather McIntyre for the NDP.
In the brand new riding of Regina University, university professor Tina Beaudry-Mellor gained a new seat for the Sask. Party with a margin of 424 votes over Aleana Young for the NDP.
Regina runner and refugee Ted Jaleta ran a close race through the night, but in the end he could not beat incumbent Mark Docherty for the Sask. Party. Docherty fell behind a few times in the night, but came out as the winner by a margin of 144 votes.
Popular Regina Public School Board trustee Carla Beck won a seat for the NDP in Regina Lakeview, taking the place of retiring NDP MLA John Nilson. The constituency was expected to be a battleground riding, but Beck took it easily by a margin of more than 1,600 votes over Dan Cooper for the Sask. Party
It was no surprise when Warren McCall was declared an early winner for the NDP in his home riding of Regina Elphinstone Centre where he was first elected in 2003.
Incumbent MLA and deputy leader of the opposition Trent Wotherspoon also won by a solid lead of 877 votes over the Sask. Party in the riding of Regina Rosemont.
Former Roughrider and Sask. Party incumbent Gene Makowsky also picked up an easy win in Regina Gardiner Park which was formerly known as Regina Dewdney.
Kevin Doherty won his seat as an incumbent for the Sask. Party in Regina Northeast as did Laura Ross in Regina Rochdale. Sask. Party MLA Warren Steinley also won his seat for a second term in Regina Walsh Acres.
Christine Tell won for the Sask. Party in the large rural riding of Regina Wascana Plains.
Both ridings in Moose Jaw went to the Sask. Party incumbents with Warren Michelson winning in Moose Jaw North and Greg Lawrence in Moose Jaw Wakamow.
Long-time Sask. Party MLA Lyle Stewart was re-elected in the massive rural riding of Lumsden-Morse.
