More than 150 cheering Huskies fans gave their women’s basketball team a hero’s welcome home at a CIS championship pep rally Wednesday.
The University of Saskatchewan team brought home the Bronze Baby in their first ever CIS National Championship title after beating the Ryerson Rams from Toronto 85-71.
One by one, players’ names were called as they emerged from plumes of smoke to the rancorous noise of the crowd. The team received special congratulations from Mayor Don Atchison, U of S president Peter Stoicheff and university athletics director Basil Hughton.
