The two main party leaders face off in a televised debate Wednesday night.
Brad Wall and Cam Broten have sparred on numerous occasions across the chamber in the Saskatchewan legislature, but it will be the only opportunity for an in-person debate this election.
This is Broten’s first debate in this format but he maintains he has no particular approach.
“As a strategy as in life is to be yourself and be motivated by the right reasons,” Broten said to reporters Tuesday. “I’ve given some thought into how the day will go but I want to be focused on what matters to families.”
Wall has the advantage. This will be his third leader’s debate.
His first was against Lorne Calvert in 2003, then four years later across from Dwain Lingenfelter.
Despite that experience, Wall jokes he has practiced and feels prepared.
“I can predict a couple of questions he will ask of me.”
While he maybe anticipating what the NDP and Cam Broten may throw at him, Wall contends the debate is an opportunity for the Saskatchewan Party to set the record straight.
“I think there is an upside for us to be able to say here’s some of the things the NDP has been saying that we would take some exception to and here’s our chance to explain our side of it.”
The debate begins at 6:05 p.m. You can listen to it live on News Talk Radio.
