A large piece of farm equipment has struck an overpass in Saskatoon as it was being hauled by a semi truck.
The truck was hauling a cultivator northbound in the east lane of Highway 11 around 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. The cultivator turned out to be too tall to get under the overpass at Circle Drive, damaging the concrete and leaving debris strewn along the road.
Charges are pending under city bylaws.
No injuries were reported as a result of the collision
By 2:30 p.m, police reported that officers had left the scene. They said a city engineer declared it unsafe to end traffic restrictions until debris from the collision could be cleared. As such, two out of three northbound lanes on Highway 11 were to remain closed until crews could clean up the area.
Citing the unique challenges of the work, police said there was no timeline on when the lanes might reopen. They urged drivers to avoid the area if possible.
