Two men are facing a variety of drug-related charges as Regina police continue their fight against drug trafficking in the city.
The investigation by members of the Regina Integrated Drug Enforcement Team led to evidence a 26-year-old Regina man was trafficking a controlled substance on Feb. 13 and Feb. 18. Abdifatah Abdullah Hassan was arrested at a business in south Regina on Feb. 18. During the arrest, Hassan was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, and marihuana.
Investigators requested a search warrant for a home in the 3200 block of Woodhams Drive. Around the same time, a vehicle was seen leaving the residence, so a traffic stop was conducted on the suspicion of drug involvement by one or more of the occupants inside.
Amin Ilmi, 25, of Edmonton, was found to be in breach of court-ordered conditions and placed under arrest. Additional charges have been laid against him.
When searching the home on Woodhams Drive, investigators found a significant amount of cocaine as well as methamphetamine and marihuana. There was also a large amount of Canadian money found, along with ammunition, weigh scales, and packaging associated to drug trafficking.
Hassan is facing eight charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking, traffic in a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance.
Ilmi is facing seven charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance.
Hassan and Ilmi made their first court appearance Friday afternoon.
