In the R-rated Marvel movie Deadpool, the main character announces that he’s from “Regina, Saskatchewan, the town that rhymes with fun”.
The quick shout out to the Queen City, combined with the joke we’ve all heard before, has inspired one Regina man to start a petition to get a statue of the superhero built in the city. In just a few days, the online petition got more than 1,400 signatures.
During an interview with the CJME Morning News, Regina Mayor Michael Fougere quickly shut down the idea of building a statue for a superhero.
