The Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technology (SIIT) had to secure their Saskatoon campus on Friday morning.
The moves came after a student allegedly threatened a teacher.
The 29-year-old student is in police custody, and is facing charges of mischief and uttering threats.
Police reported that the man was unarmed at the time of his arrest.
In a release, a spokesperson with SIIT said the school was closed for the remainder of Friday, with classes to resume on Feb. 22, after the February break.
