Students at Rosemont Community School and Martin Collegiate spent 15 minutes under a secure-the-building protocol Friday afternoon.
Regina police advised the schools to lock the outside doors while officers investigated a report of a domestic assault at a nearby house. The report to police advised that there were guns inside the house, which prompted the call to the schools as a precaution.
When officers arrived at the house on the 5600 block of 5th Avenue, a man was arrested without any incident and the guns were located inside the house. They were all properly and legally secured. The schools were told to unlock the doors 15 minutes after the original call.
When schools are told to secure the building, the outside doors are locked and monitored by staff members but classes continue normally.
