The SWAT team had to be called out this weekend as Regina police tried to arrest an alleged thief.
It all started Thursday afternoon when three men broke into a home in the Rosemont area, on the 1200 block of Walker Street. According to police, the men had guns and demanded money and property from the man and woman in the home, then fled in a van. No one was hurt.
Police arrested one 28-year-old suspect that night. A second, 34-year-old suspect was arrested the next night after a struggle with police.
The problems came when police tried to arrest a third, 36-year-old suspect on Saturday night. Officers arrived at a trailer park on the 600 block of Pasqua Street, but the suspect was believed to have weapons. SWAT was called in.
It took 45 minutes of negotiating, but the man was persuaded to come out and was arrested. Inside the home police found a handgun, two pellet guns, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, holsters, several knives, body armour and several items connected to the robbery on Thursday.
