One man is facing charges and another remains at large after RCMP tracked down a stolen vehicle west of Swift Current last week.
Mounties received a call late Wednesday night about a stolen vehicle that was driving erratically on the Trans-Canada Highway. Officers tracked it down near a set of weigh scales, and two men inside the vehicle tried to run away.
Officers arrested Justin Shawn Yaholnitsky. The 25-year-old Medicine Hat man is charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, resisting arrest, uttering death threats, obstruction of justice, mischief under $5,000, and failing to comply with an undertaking.
A second man ran to a farm yard and got into a truck that had keys in the ignition. The suspect was able to drive away before officers could catch up.
The man was driving a 1995 Chev 1500 pickup. It is green with maroon accents, and had a large, white water tank and two large toolboxes in the back. It has a Saskatchewan licence plate: RLM 156.
RCMP ask anyone with information on the truck to contact Swift Current Rural RCMP at 306-778-5550 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
