What’s being called a freak accident at Mission Ridge Ski Hill required a seven-year-old girl to be rescued from a chairlift Thursday afternoon.
The park’s Don Williams said around 3:30 p.m. the girl somehow slipped between the restraining bar and the front edge of the seat.
“She didn’t load quite right on the chair and got to be about 20 feet in the air hanging from the restraining bar by her helmet,” he described.
Ladders wouldn’t reach her so Williams said they had to catch her in a net.
“It was just one of those incredible things that you wouldn’t ever expect to happen and it did.”
The girl turned out to be fine. Williams said she was taken to hospital and was released a short time after. He explained crews at the park train for these type of situations.
