The Saskatchewan Roughriders are bringing back two players from last season’s roster.
The team announced on Monday, international defensive lineman Tearrius George and national defensive back Matt Webster have signed extensions. The terms of both deals are not being released.
This upcoming season with be George’s ninth in the CFL and sixth with the Riders. The North Carolina native signed with Saskatchewan as a free agent in 2011. Through 111 career regular season games, George has 181 defensive tackles, 42 quarterback sacks, and six forced fumbles.
George was named a West Division All-Star in 2013 and 2014 — and also won a Grey Cup with the Riders in 2013.
Matt Webster was drafted by Saskatchewan in the 5th round in the 2014 CFL Draft. This upcoming season will be his third with the club. The 23-year-old Queen’s University product has 25 career regular season games under his belt collecting 25 defensive tackles and 17 special teams tackles.
The Riders also announced Monday, they have released national kicker Paul McCallum and international defensive back Tristan Jackson. McCallum spent 12 season with the Riders from 1994-2005 before spending nine seasons with the BC Lions. McCallum returned to the Riders in 2015 suiting up in 14 games.
