Underground mining activities are on hold at Cameco’s Rabbit Lake operation in northern Saskatchewan.
It’s a precautionary measure after fallen rock was discovered in a tunnel that was reopened in an inactive area of Eagle Point mine. Production has been temporarily suspended and 40 workers were removed from the mine while the area is assessed .
Cameco said the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission and Saskatchewan Mines Inspector have been notified and that there were no injuries and no effect on the environment.
