The snow may not be in Regina just yet, but the city is tossing the idea around of clearing more sidewalks.
A proposal being discussed by the public works and infrastructure committee looks at clearing an additional 26 kilometres of sidewalk around city-owned parks on what are called category three and category four streets.
Category three streets refer to major collector roads and transit routes. Category four deals with minor collector roads and major residential streets that lead to school bus unloading zones.
As well, the city could be clearing sidewalks around properties don’t that face the street — locations with no frontage.
The expansion of sidewalk clearing would cost another $150,000 each year. The policy will be part of budget talks for 2016. If approved, it could be implemented by January.
