The Regina Pats are coming home a happy bunch following a 3-2 win over the Kootenay Ice on Tuesday night.
The game was the Pats final game of a five-game road trip that saw them win three of the five games on the swing that began last week in Medicine Hat.
Defence was not the name of the game for both teams to open this game. The Pats and Ice combined for 26 shots in the first period, 16 of them coming from the home team. Despite all of those shots, none actually found the back of the net.
The Pats opened the scoring just over four minutes into the second period with a powerplay marker from Colton Kroeker. Sam Steel gave the Pats a 2-0 lead just past the midway mark of the period with his fourth goal of the season.
The Pats lead was extended just over a minute into the third period thanks to Reilly Woods second career WHL. From there, the Ice clawed their way back with goals from Zak Zborosky and Luke Philip.
Goalie Daniel Wapple shut the door the rest of the way for the 3-2 win. Wapple made 37 saves in the win. Steel led all Pats with two points.
The victory leave the Pats 6-5-0-0 on the season.
Up next for the Pats is the Prince Albert Raiders on Sunday afternoon at the Brandt Centre.
