More than 80 kilometres of trails now sprawl across the City of Saskatoon as Meewasin officially opened a southern extension Friday.
The new path for biking, running and walking starts near the Circle Drive South Bridge in Diefenbaker Park and stretches seven kilometres to Chief Whitecap Park.
The addition to the Trans-Canada Trail was announced in 2013 and included a northern extension to Wanuskewin Heritage Park that opened in June.
Students from the Eco Justice Class of St. Edward School were the first to officially cycle the new trail on Friday.
