RCMP had to help round up some piglets after a semi carrying the livestock rolled in the Wolseley area Monday night.
RCMP were called at 10:45 p.m. after the semi had rolled onto its side in the ditch east of Wolseley. Mounties say the truck swerved to avoid hitting a moose on the Trans-Canada highway.
The semi was carrying two-week-old pigs. The trailer broke open from the force of the crash and some of the pigs escaped onto the highway. Local farmers and officers had to round up the escaped pigs. Unfortunately, some of the animals died.
As of 8 a.m. Tuesday, both eastbound lanes had been reopened.
The driver had minor injuries from the collision and had to be treated on scene by paramedics.
