The RCMP took to social media to send a message to teens heading to a party in the Lumsden area this weekend.
The Facebook post by the Saskatchewan RCMP took a humorous approach to send a warning to people heading to the frosh party.
“We had seen or got notifified that there was going to be an underage frosh party somewhere in the Lumsden area on Saturday night and often with those underage parties, there is underage drinking, there can be drinking and driving, a variety of things … so we decided we wanted to sort of educate the public,” said RCMP spokesperson Eilidh Thain.
The Facebook post was the best way, Thain explained, to send a message directly to the people thinking of heading to the party.
“This really connects with people because that’s how they communicate, that’s how they share, and they interact with us quite a bit on our social media website.”
The response was quick, with more than 3,000 likes in the first four hours of it being posted.
