Estevan was hit with flash flooding after hours of heavy rain on Saturday.
The torrential rain overloaded the storm sewer system, blowing off manhole covers, turning streets and parking lots into lakes.
“People say they’re going canoeing,” said Quinton Davidson, who works at the Co-op.
The water rose over the curbs, shutting down multiple streets across the city. Water even started to flow into Walmart, which had to close its doors to the public to mop it all up.
Photos of rain gauges shared on Twitter showed the city received about five inches of water.
