Seven people have been arrested after a standoff in Saskatoon on Wednesday.
The gangs and guns unit with the Saskatoon Police Service noticed a man known to have warrants go inside a home in the 100 block of Avenue O South and barricade the door.
Officers put up a perimeter while the gangs and guns unit tried to get a warrant. During this time, someone inside the home called police saying others inside were being held hostage.
Around 3 p.m., the tactical support unit busted downs the door. Ten people left the home and were detained by police.
Seven of them were charged including:
- An 18-year-old man who was charged with public mischief and breach of undertaking
- An 18-year-old woman arrested for breach of undertaking and outstanding warrants
- A 19-year-old man arrested for breach of recognizance and numerous outstanding warrants
- A 19-year-old man is charged with impersonation, public mischief, breach of recognizance and outstanding warrants.
- A 20-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man were both arrested on outstanding warrants.
- A 33-year-old man was arrested for two breaches of recognizance and numerous outstanding warrants.
The seven were scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court Thursday afternoon.
