8:30 – The Canadian Civil Liberties Association is opposed to the Emergencies Act, and is ready to file litigation against the federal government. Noa Mendelsohn Aviv heads up the CCLA, and her group has maintained that the Trudeau government has not met “the high burden necessary to invoke the Emergencies Act.” Mendelsohn Aviv joins John to tell us about their legal challenge to the act, and why she says the right to peaceful assembly is a critical tool in democracy even when people disagree with the protesters’ goals.
