8:30 – Mayo Schmidt has left the CEO role of Nutrien after just eight months at the helm of the world’s largest fertilizer company, a move which some analysts called “bizarre” and “abrupt.” While the announcement did lead to a small drop in stock price, economist Dr. Brooke Dobni says the company remains well-positioned going forward. Dobni says the new interim CEO Ken Seitz will do a good job maintaining a steady course until a permanent replacement for Schmidt is selected, and he doesn’t expect major changes as a result. Dobni joins John to share his thoughts.
