8:30 – Pfizer has asked Health Canada to approve its vaccine for use in children aged 5-11. But according to an Angus Reid survey, almost a quarter say they won’t vaccinate their children while half said they’ll do it immediately. Microbiologist Dr. Joseph Blondeau joins Gormley to explain why it’s important for everyone – even the less-vulnerable – to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

While many businesses have taken advantage of the benefits to keep their doors open, some – including Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce CEO Steve McLellan – have argued that the CRB has been partially responsible for a shortage of available labour. 11:15/30 – A new study from the U of S has found the performance of youth hockey players isn’t negatively affected by wearing a surgical mask during play. The study put kids through high-performance exercise routines with and without masks, and found no substantial impact on performance. The study’s authors say COVID can spread easily during hockey, which has been linked to community transmission. But should children need to wear masks while they’re on the ice? 12:00 – After 30 years with SaskPower, including seven as President and CEO, Mike Marsh is retiring from his role with the crown power corporation. Marsh started with SaskPower as a plant engineer at Boundary Dam Power Station in Estevan in 1991, and has led SaskPower through a significant period of growth and increased investment into infrastructure including the grid modernization initiative and the transition towards emissions-free power generation. Marsh joins Gormley to tell us about his career and what’s next for him and for SaskPower.
