8:30 – We’ve just finished our first weekend with vaccine passports in Saskatchewan, but will the requirement to prove your vaccine status or present a negative test to get into bars, gyms, and restaurants actually help lower our COVID cases and hospitalizations, and encourage more people to get vaccinated? We’re putting that question to you in one of Gormley’s patented Reality Checks: Are vaccine passports the right move? Call 1-877-332-8255 and add your voice to our poll.
REALITY CHECK: Are vaccine passports the right move?
9:00 – Nadine Wilson, the MLA who has represented the constituency of Saskatchewan Rivers since 2007, resigned last week after misrepresenting her vaccination status. Ms. Wilson is not vaccinated and the information came to light as the province moved toward its proof-of-vaccination policy for government staff which started October 1. Wilson will remain as an MLA but will be considered an Independent in the legislature. Wilson joins Gormley to explain her departure from the Sask Party caucus and what’s next for her as an independent MLA.
LIVE: Nadine Wilson, independent MLA.
9:00 – Hour of the Big Stories
10:00 – When it comes to vaccination in Saskatchewan, there’s a large divide between urban and rural populations, with rural residents lagging behind. Dr. Kevin Wasko with the Saskatchewan Health Authority is the physician executive for integrated rural health, and he joins Gormley to tell us which areas of the province are still slow to get their jabs, why there’s a divide between urban and rural populations, and what the SHA is doing to encourage vaccination outside of urban centres.
LIVE: Dr. Kevin Wasko, Physician Executive for Integrated Rural Health, SHA.
11:00 – We all try our best to shop local and support our local retailers, but do you eat local as well? We’re opening up our phone lines this hour for you to let us know about the made-in-Saskatchewan foods that grace your dinner table, and where others can find them! There are tons of well-kept secrets when it comes to Saskatchewan food, but we’re blowing the lid off of all of them, so call 1-877-332-8255 and dish out your favourite made-in-Sask foods, beverages, condiments, and produce.
12:00 – There are more than 4,000 charities active around Saskatchewan, and we’re featuring some of the great people doing great work in this province during our new segment called “The Best of Saskatchewan.” In this week’s feature, we’ll catch up with Nora Yeates, CEO of the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan.
