8:30 – The Chinese telecom giant Huawei is positioning itself as a potential supplier of 5G cell technology in Canada, but shouldn’t that be avoided considering their close relationship with the communist government and role at the centre of the recent trade disputes between our two nations? Bell and Telus joined Rogers this week announcing that they will partner with Ericsson and Nokia rather than Huawei to build their 5G networks, and Gormley believes it’s indefensible for SaskTel to work with Huawei at this point.
