8:30 – During his speech celebrating his win in the federal election, Justin Trudeau addressed residents of Alberta and Saskatchewan, where no Liberal MPs were elected, saying “I’ve heard your frustration and I want to be there to support you. Let us all work hard to bring our country together.” Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe responded by sending Trudeau a letter challenging him to follow through on his promise. “We need action, not words,” Moe wrote, and suggested immediately canceling the federal carbon tax, committing to renegotiate equalization payments, and commit to a pipeline construction plan. Moe joins Gormley now to discuss his reaction to Trudeau’s re-election and what it means for Saskatchewan’s relationship with Ottawa.

10:00 – Husky Energy laid off a large number of employees yesterday in Calgary, and some staffers say hundreds lost their jobs. Husky confirmed the layoffs but would not say how many employees were let go. According to Husky, the downsizing was done to ensure the company can “achieve its goals.” Is it a coincidence that the big blow to workers in Canada’s energy sector came the day after our federal election? Should other energy employees be concerned? To help answer these questions, John caught up with Danielle Smith, radio host with NewsTalk770 in Calgary.

McIntosh joins Gormley now to discuss depression and the new book.
