8:30 – Environment Minister Catherine McKenna has been criticized recently for flip-flopping on whether the carbon tax would be raised past $50/tonne if the Liberals are re-elected. Although the federal government pledged to freeze the price at $50/tonne after 2022, McKenna told the Globe and Mail that a decision on future levels would be made towards the end of the federal government’s next mandate after consulting with the provinces. Sheila Gunn Reid, with the Rebel Media, received documents through an access to information request that showed McKenna was contemplating increasing the tax beyond the proposed cap as early as 2017. She joins Gormley now to discuss how high the carbon tax may go.
