8:30 – Trudeau’s federal carbon tax will be applied retroactively on SaskPower bills back to January the 1st. Although SaskPower knew the carbon tax would take effect on that date, they weren’t able to bill customers as the full details of the cost weren’t available. Now they’re adding the additional charges to power bills gradually. To help explain further, John is joined by Dustin Duncan, minister responsible for SaskPower.

Producer Taylor MacPherson is a huge film fan, and he says people need to vote with their wallets if they want to see real creativity return to Hollywood. He joins John now to discuss exactly why we’re seeing so many sequels and remakes these days, and how we can push back in favour of originality.

11:00 – Does Canada export terrorism? Alex Wilner, a terrorism expert and professor of international affairs, has penned a new report identifying 95 individuals from Canada who have or are suspected of having radicalized, mobilized, or participated in Islamist terrorist activity between 2006 and 2017. To tell us more, and what we can learn from the data he collected and studied, John is joined by Alex Wilner, author of “Canadian Terrorists by the Numbers: An Assessment of Canadians Joining and Supporting Terrorist Groups.”

12:00 – A team of Regina high school students from École Thom Collegiate are headed to the First Robotic World Championship in Houston, Texas April 17-21 after securing their spot by taking second place at the FRC Canadian Rockies Competition in Calgary last weekend. During the competition, the team’s robots were tasked with assembling a “space shuttle” and loading it with cargo. The team is currently fundraising for the Texas trip, and have set up a GoFundMe page up to help offset the costs. John is joined by Stan Fedyck, a Grade 11 programmer with the Thom Robotics Team.
