8:30 – China is no longer buying Canadian canola seed, a move many are linking to the Vancouver arrest of Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou, though China claimed the move was due to contamination concerns. Canada exports 40 per cent of its canola seed to China, and while prime minister Trudeau has said he’s optimistic about resolving the situation diplomatically, many are calling on the government to do more to find a speedy resolution. Jim Everson, president of the Canola Council of Canada, joins the show to give the latest details on the canola dispute, what it means for Saskatchewan producers, and whether he’s satisfied with the government’s response so far.

Lang joins Gormley now to talk about referee abuse in local hockey games and what can be done to improve it.

He says the bailout money will “create a caste of State-recognized news orgs deemed to be of higher public value, and a lower class that are not. I’m not aware of any other Western democracy that has ever done this.” Brown joins Gormley now to discuss the bailout funding and his objections to it as a journalist who blazed his own path.
