CFL releases 2018 Roughriders schedule

Sports fans in Saskatchewan can start planning their summer holidays, as the Canadian Football League (CFL) released the 2018 Roughriders schedule Thursday.

The Riders will open the regular season at home on Friday, June 15 in a rematch of the 2017 East Final, hosting the defending Grey Cup champion Toronto Argonauts.

Both of the green and white’s bye weeks come in the first 10 weeks of the season, leading to a backloaded road-heavy schedule down the stretch.

The Roughriders will also play four Thursday games through the season, including a Week 4 home date on July 5 against the Hamilton Tiger Cats.

Their eastern road swing to Toronto and Montreal will happen between Sept. 22 and Sept. 30 on weeks 15 and 16.

As for the preseason, the Riders will warm up in Edmonton on May 27 before hosting the Calgary Stampeders on June 8.
