A young woman managed to save herself from a kidnapping and now Regina police are looking for a suspect.
The 19-year-old left a house party on the 1400 block of Elphinstone Street late Monday night. Then sometime between midnight and 1 a.m. Tuesday, a white van with no side windows pulled up to her on the 1200 block of Retallack Street.
She says she was pulled into the van by a man and hit repeatedly on the head. They went for a short drive then the door opened. She fought the man off and managed to escape, running back to the home that she came from.
The suspect is described as a white man, about 40-50 years old, with a full beard, wearing dark clothing and a black ball cap.
While police investigate, they remind the public to be aware of your surroundings, especially when alone at night. Ask a friend to walk with you if you are unfamiliar with the area and don’t make yourself vulnerable by drugs or alcohol.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
