Canadian comedian and television personality Rick Mercer arrived in Regina for the Canadian Western Agribition to film scenes for his TV show.

Mercer says many Canadians don't know much about cattle industry and he's here to show them what it's all about.

“An awful lot of us go to the supermarket and buy our hamburger and our steaks,” said Mercer.

“But we don’t know much about the beef business or the bison business.”

In between filming scenes for his show, Mercer quipped that the event smells more like a beauty salon than a barn.

“Farmers, with extreme concentration, are primping and fluffing and blow-drying and clipping these cows,” said Mercer.

Mercer says he hopes to spend some time with the bison and milk a cow before the end of the agribition.

Mercer is expected to be at the rodeo on Tuesday night.
