More details are coming in on the death of a Regina man who was vacationing in Puerto Vallarta.

Duane Lang, 46, was a partner at Lang Insurance. Reports now say he was found stabbed in the chest and neck on July 28 in his hotel room.

His obituary says that he enjoyed cooking, painting, and writing. Lang was a frequent visitor to Mexico -  a country that has been home to several high-profile murders of Canadian travelers over the past few years.

The Canadian Embassy in Mexico City and the Canadian Consular Agency in Puerto Vallarta are in contact with local authorities regarding Lang's death.

The Canadian government says travelers to Mexico should exercise a, "high degree of caution".

Around 1.5 million Canadians travel to Mexico each year.
