Prince Albert police are warning the public of an escaped Riverbend Institution inmate.

Friday night around 9:30 p.m. correctional officers at Riverbend noticed 39-year-old Terrance Michael Yew was missing when they were conducting an institutional count.

Yew is around 5-foot-11, 236 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair, and a small scar on his right cheek.

He is currently serving a two year and 10-month sentence for Operating a Motor Vehicle - Flight and Operating a Motor Vehicle While Disqualified.

It is currently unclear how the inmate escaped, but Correction Service of Canada and Riverbend Institution will be conducting a joint investigation surrounding the incident.

"When we have an incident of this nature we conduct an investigation," said Jeff Campbell with CSC.

The Prince Albert Police Service and RCMP are working with CSC to locate this offender immediately.

Campbell said Yew is considered a low risk to the public, but asks anyone who sees him to call the Prince Albert Police Service or RCMP.

The Riverbend Institution is a minimum security institution located one kilometre west of Prince Albert.
