STARS air ambulance is opening up a base in Saskatoon today.
The helicopter, named Star-11, has been in the city since Thursday at around 4:30pm.
"The STARS team has been on the road conducting outreach sessions, landing zone training, talking to community partners about our service," said spokesperson Kelly Brossart.
This is the second base in the province, the first was opened in April in Regina.
"Since that time we have flown over 80 missions," said Brossart.
For now, the Saskatoon base will be operating out of a temporary hangar at the airport.
"We're going to be working out of this hangar until the permanent one is ready in late 2013," said Brossart.
The base officially opens at noon.
