Saskatoon is expected to have the fastest growing population in all of Canada and that means, revisiting plans to expand housing within the city.

Mayor Don Atchison says it's important to look at areas where things like high-rises can help to increase density.

“The City Yards, when they move out, we need to be looking at probably another ten, fifteen-thousand people over there living in that area,” said Atchison.

Atchison says he'd like to see a new attitude towards the downtown core and increase density, so another 10,000 people can be housed there.

“I’m a big believer that we need to have a strong vibrant downtown – at least ten-thousand people living there - The more people living in the middle of the city, the better because it leads to better transit and everything else for you in the end.”
