An adventurous feline from Saskatoon showed up in Calgary recently.

The cat with long black fur was adopted by a Saskatoon office last year but then she disappeared.  Recently Linda Gubbe with the Street Cat Rescue organization got a call from a shelter in Calgary about the cat called Princess Sophie.

Apparently Princess Sophie’s disappearing and reappearing act is a bit of a habit. She also went missing from Street Cat Rescue while she was in their care four years ago before turning up on their doorstep one year minus a day later.

“Some cats get all the luck,” Gubbe said by way of explanation for the mystery of how a cat travelled across the prairies.

Her first ‘Houdini act’ attracted media attention and she only stayed at the shelter a little longer before being adopted only to disappear again.

The shelter in Calgary used a microchip to trace Princess Sophie back to Street Cat Rescue and no one has any idea how she made the 600 kilometer journey.

Debbie Nelson with the Calgary shelter ventured a guess.

“We can only surmise that she might have been very curious about somebody’s open truck,” she said.

Princess Sophie is in Calgary for now, perhaps planning her next big trip.
