Saskatchewan wakeboarder takes home championship
A wakeboarder from Estevan, SK has won a major Canadian championship.
Taylor Johnson, 18, won the Women's Open category at Wakestock in Collingwood, Ontario on Saturday.
Wakestock is the biggest wakeboarding tournament in Canada.
The category is usually designated for women 20 years of age or older, but Johnson was an exception.
Johnson says the weather wasn't very good and she was lucky enough to take first place.
She trains with a Saskatchewan-based team periodically, but usually she goes solo.
"I just train myself and try and right every night, and get on the water as much as I can," said Johnson.
She's happy that the win validates all those nights spent on the water.
"It proves to myself that all my hard work is paying off," she said.
