Saskatchewan opens first Porsche dealership
It's a luxury car that Vaughn Wyant has been chasing for nearly 20 years.
Hundreds gathered in Saskatoon Wednesday night for a private party to celebrate the official opening of Saskatchewan's first Porsche dealership.
"It's thrilling to see so many of our vehicles on the streets and roads of Saskatchewan. The timing is right and we're ready to grow," said Wyant in a news release.
CEO of Porsche Cars Canada, Joe Lawrence, attended the event. He said that Wyant had been sending requests to start a dealership in Saskatoon for years. But he said he only started to take the requests seriously once headlines of Saskatchewan's booming economy started to make the national news.
Porsche of Saskatchewan has been added to the Vaughn Wyant Automotive Group (VWAG) in the Saskatoon Auto Mall.
At the event, a major donation was announced on behalf of the Vaughn Wyant family. The Remai Art Gallery of Saskatchewan capital campaign received $1 million.
"The Remai Gallery is a very important cultural facility," Wyant said.
"If we're growing up as a city, we need a world-class art gallery."
