The Saskatchewan Roughriders dropped their third straight game, falling 28-20 at the hands of the Edmonton Eskimos on Friday night.

It was a sloppy and undisciplined game by the Roughriders, who committed 13 penalties and turned the ball over three times.

It was an even game through the first 30 minutes and teams traded field goals and touchdowns to head into half time tied at 10.

Darian Durant put the Riders ahead in the third quarter when he capped off a seven play drive with a 27-yard touchdown run. Durant's touchdown put the Riders up 17-10 but the Eskimos would make the comeback and score 18 straight points.

After an Eskimo field goal late in the third quarter, the Riders got the ball back but on the second play of the drive Weston Dressler would fumble and Joe Burnett picked it up and took it for a 44-yard fumble return touchdown.

The Eskimos headed into the fourth quarter with a 20-17 lead.

They added to their lead with a punt single and looked like they sealed the win with a six-yard Calvin McCarty touchdown run with under six minutes to go.

The Riders did try to make a comeback, highlighted by a 76-yard catch and run by running back Kory Sheets to the Eskimos five-yard line. The Riders would have to settle for a field goal to cut the lead to 28-20.

The Saskatchewan defense held strong late in the fourth quarter and gave the Riders two more opportunities to tie the game. On the first attempt, Durant threw an interception to J.C. Sheritt on the Riders side of the field.

After the defense held off the Eskimos again, Durant and the offense had just one minute and 106-yards to go. The Riders drove the ball to the 33-yard line to leave themselves a hail mary pass that would end up being intercepted.

The Riders are now sitting at a 3-3 record and in a tie for third in the West Division. The Eskimos are now tied at the top of the West Division with a 4-2 record.

The Riders visit the B.C. Lions next Sunday.

Kory Sheets was one of the lone bright spots for the Riders. He had 78-yards on the ground and 138 in the air. Darian Durant threw for over 400 yards for the first time all season, but was intercepted twice.
