Rider fans react to stadium announcement
Most of the fans streaming out of Mosaic Stadium after the game were happy with the pregame stadium announcement.
Construction on the 33,000 seat open-air stadium begins next year and will open in 2017.
"It's about time. We should have had it along time ago," said Ross Russell.
He didn't mind the extra four dollars added to ticket prices for the new facility fee. It will bring the fee up to $12 from eight dollars.
"Whatever, not worried about it one bit. I'd pay $20 more," said Russel.
Not everyone was that optimistic, though. Some fans, though happy with the stadium, had concerns.
"I think its a great idea. I think it'd be better more downtown where the train tracks are being released," said fan Brent Lee.
There were also a few fans totally against the new stadium.
"I think its absolutley bogus. I think its about the last thing the stadium and the province need," said Garrett Dark.
Dark thinks the province and the city should be re-evaluating their priorities.
"There's a lot worse problems to deal with. We have all have opinions, directions, and ideas on where our city should go, but when it comes down to it there's a lot of people in need and theres a lot of crisis right in front of our eyes," he said.
Dark listed housing and infastructure as two of the problems in the city that should have been dealt with before the new stadium.
Several other people took to facebook to weigh in on the proposal for the new stadium. Let us know what you think.
