Regina man charged in 3-year-old boy's death
Regina police have now charged a second person, Harley William Fraser Stueck, in the death of three-year-old Nylan Jordan George Clark, who was found in a van behind a house on Halifax Street.
Thirty-eight year-old Stueck is charged with criminal negligence causing death, indignity to a dead body and obstruction of justice. He made his first court appearance at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
Elizabeth Popowich with the Regina Police Service confirms the man was known to both the child and the mother, but she would not specify the exact relationship.
Boy died days before
She also states that the boy was dead for a few days before being discovered by police. It was Tuesday night that police found the small boy's body inside a stolen van in north Regina. The van had been set of fire in what appears to be an attempt to conceal the evidence.
“The charge that was read in court indicates between April 28th and May
3rd, May 3rd being the discovery of the body of the child,” said
Popowich.
During his court appearance in Regina the court heard that Stueck is also charged with failing to appear on previous charges for drugs, fraud and theft.
Mother appears in court
On Thursday, the boy's mother made her first court appearance. Anna Marie Rose Wilkes, 29, is alleged to have failed to get the boy the medical attention that could have saved his life. Wilkes is also accused of attempting to burn the van and body inside in an attempt to destroy the evidence.
Wilkes will be held until at least Monday when a bail hearing would be held. She told Judge Bellerose that she didn't understand why the Crown is opposed to her release. She insisted she's never been in trouble before and that she's co-operated with police.
