PHOTOS: Saskatchewan the 'ugly'?
Lets hope this doesn't effect our self confidence. Just in time of Canada Day a new survey asked Canadians about the best and worst provinces.
The results are in and 47 per cent of people polled by abacusdata.ca say that Saskatchewan is the least beautiful province.
News Talk Radio conducted our own random phone survey calling people across Canada to find out what they think when they hear 'Saskatchewan'.
"On the drive down I remember it being a little dull, it's a lot of canola oil fields and a little bit plain looking," one man said.
Another Easterner admitted that he considers it to be "just the flatlands" and doesn't have much of an opinion on it.
"I think of it as a lot of open land with wheat growing out of it," a woman said.
A few, especially from the Maritimes actually mixed up their geography when asked about the province. One said he had been to Winnipeg, then hung up after finding out that's in Manitoba. Another mentioned that he had only been as far west as Edmonton, but not to Saskatchewan.
In many more calls made to provinces from Newfoundland to B.C., very few people had actually been here.
Of course it's important to remember that many people driving through the so-called "flat" and "prairie-land" or "farming" province only drive straight down Highway 1 without stopping.
The same poll did find Saskatchewan maybe has more brains than beauty. Putting us near the top for best managed province and best place to open a business.
