Looks like we'll have to wait until practice starts again to learn more about the Roughriders injury situation.

Heading into Saturday evenings game, the Riders already hand a long list of injuries, with defensive end Brent Hawkins, defensive linemen Keith Shologan and Mick Williams, defensive back Eddie Russ and offensive lineman Brendon LaBatte out of action. That list grew by two more that evening.

Slot back Jock Sanders and defensive back Milt Collins both left the game with injuries. For Sanders it was his knee, while it appeared to be a shoulder injury for Collins. Head coach Corey Chamblin met with the media Monday afternoon, but didn't have much of an update.

"One way or the other, he'll miss some time," said Chamblin of Sanders. "I don't know how much time."

Chamblin expects to have a better idea of their status' Tuesday, after everyone meets with doctors late Monday afternoon. That includes Collins, and everyone who missed the game too.

The good news is that the Riders have nine days, since the end of the game, until their next game, which is next Monday in Toronto. So the rest is certainly coming at the right time for a banged up squad. That being said, Chamblin seems to be preparing for life without Sanders in that game.

"We'll definitely move forward with Brandon West moving into that position," said Chamblin.

It's been a long year for West, who has only appeared in one regular season game thus far, but Chamblin feels he's still working hard and doing the right things.

"He's continued to practice hard, and he's stayed strong mentally," he said. "This is will be an awesome opportunity for him to step up and get in that role."

Sanders injury is also somewhat timely, as the practice roster is set to expand, meaning the team can bring in some depth at the tailback spot, something Chamblin did say they would be doing in the next couple of days or so.

The best news on the injury front, quarterback Darian Durant did not re-aggravate his hip flexor after taking a couple of hits against the Lions.
