Regina Public Library employees are still on the job, despite a legal right to strike.

CUPE 1594, the union representing the employees, served the Regina Public Library board with strike notice Friday, so the strike could have commenced Sunday at 5 p.m.

But Debbie Mihial with CUPE said they had no plans to strike Sunday, and employees would still be on the job Monday morning.

Mihial said the union hasn't heard from the employer as of Sunday afternoon.

She said they have no immediate plans to strike but if the employer doesn't get back to them, then they will have to take action.

The library employees have been without a contract for two years.
