Dwain Lingenfelter has criticised the Saskatchewan Party for proposing to change the school year without consulting with teachers and school boards.

So did the NDP leader do the same when he proposed a full-day kindergarten?

“Every one of our platform items comes as a result of not someone in Regina writing a platform but hundreds of meetings and thousands of conversations,” said Lingenfelter.

But when asked by News Talk Radio if Lingenfelter consulted with Saskatoon Public School Board chair Ray Morrison, he said “no.”

“I was surprised that they would come out with that,” said Morrison.

“But full-day K … is something we’ve been lobbying government for at least the last nine or 10 years.”

Lingenfelter made the full-day kindergarten campaign promise on Wednesday. The plan includes full-day kindergarten across the province, which would cost $84 million over the next four years.

Morrison says he would have asked lots of questions surrounding how they are going to pay for full-day kindergarten.
