New Rabbi in Saskatoon
Saskatoon's Jewish community is welcoming a new permanent Rabbi Saturday night.
Rabbi Claudio Jodorkovsky is coming from Bogota, Columbia and was born in Santiago, Chile.
"Rabbi Claudio knows what our congregation is about, our personality, our character and what we want to do," said Jan Gitlin, media relations with the Agudas Israel Synagogue, "he brings the wisdom and teaching to our community."
Gitlin feels very excited to have him, because there were several other people trying to woo him to their community as well.
"We brought him here and showed him our congregation, I think it was love at first sight, we just blended," said Gitlin, "it brings so much when you know that a Rabbi will allow us to learn from him and he from us, that's very important."
The ceremony will be led by Rabbi Steven Wernick, international CEO of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, based out of New York. The ceremony gets underway at 8:00pm and the public is invited.
