The NDP introduced its cost-savings calculator to show voters how much the NDP platform could save them according to the NDP's calculations.

The NDP claims you will save big and has a calculator on its website to prove that.

Dwain Lingenfelter insists it means a lot to a family of four who are renting and have two kids in daycare. They would receive a direct savings of $6,400.

“More than $6,000 each and every year over a four-year period,” Lingenfelter said in Regina on Tuesday.

Some examples the NDP used include a senior couple who would save $2,500 thanks to the credit for caring. A student would save over $3,000.

And Lingenfelter maintains these savings are affordable.

“This will all be paid for. These savings are a slight, very slight increase in potash royalties,” said Lingenfelter.

But Premier Brad Wall has gone on record calling the NDP calculator "broken".

"I understand there's already YouTube video up of a person trying to make this calculator work," the premier said.

"It's not necessarily working very well."

Wall said it shouldn't be much of a surprise, since NDP ideas are based on tripling potash taxes.
