Families in the Caswell Hill and Mayfair areas will have to wait a little longer before they can dive into the newly developed Mayfair pool.

After taking down the old facility at the site on 32nd Street and Avenue F the city’s construction of a new outdoor center at the same site has been delayed.

Originally the pool was scheduled to open around June 27th but significant rain in May slowed construction leaving the new facility with a new completion date of July 17th.

Although you may see water levels by the end of June there are still over 250 system checks that need to be performed before the public will be allowed access.

In the meantime the city has instead arranged for outdoor leisure prices at the nearby Harry Bailey Aquatic Center.

Depending on staffing availability the city has also indicated outdoor pool season at Mayfair may be extended by two weeks.

The new pool will include lanes swim, a diving area, a waterslide and run out chute as well as a barbeque, picnic and sports area.

A grand re-opening event will go sometime in August.
