Man stabbed while attempting a break and enter in Regina charged
A man sustained minor injuries Wednesday morning defending his home from a break and enter.
Regina police were called to Cavendish Street early Wednesday morning between Dewdney and Cambridge.
A homeowner discovered two men were trying to break into his house
He confronted the men, got into a fight, and the homeowner ended up stabbing one of the men several times.
The two men ran away. The injured 25-year old fled was tracked down a member of the canine unit to an area near 10th Avenue and Regent Street.
He was successfully taken into custody.
Dennis Alfred Bird, the 25 year old, is facing four charges: assault, attempted break and enter, breach of probation, and failure to comply/appear.
Bird made his first appearance in court Wednesday morning.
The second suspect is still at large - he's described as in his 20's, 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, with dark skin and medium to short hair.
Regina Police are not pursuing charges against the homeowner at this time.
